The thinking
behind the build.

Why Engram Ventures exists

The name Engram comes from neuroscience — a memory trace, the physical mark that experience leaves in the brain. It’s how we think about good work: it should leave something lasting behind. Not a slide deck, but real capability.

I’m Andre Gallo. I founded Engram Ventures after twenty-five years inside enterprise technology — as a software engineer, as an architect, and as a co-founder and CTO. I’ve seen the same pattern repeat across banks, scaleups, government agencies, and ventures: the work that survives isn’t the work with the best slide. It’s the work with the engineering rigour to hold up when the demo is over.

AI has made the cost of skipping that rigour much higher. Most enterprise AI projects don’t fail on the model — they fail because evals, observability, rollback, and data contracts were treated as “nice to have,” and because no single person was holding the architecture, the unit economics, and the product surface in the same head. Those are engineering problems with commercial consequences, and they’re the problems I’ve spent twenty-five years solving.

That’s the work I started Engram Ventures to do — hands on the system when it needs me, hands off when the team has it.

More about me

I’m a technologist and venture architect, and I’ve spent over two decades turning enterprise ambition into working software. Before Engram Ventures, I spent almost ten years as co-founder and CTO of Triniti, a Sydney innovation studio where I led the delivery of 25+ digital ventures — generating over US$700M in commercial value across financial services, public sector, aviation, and healthcare.

Before Triniti

Prior to venture-building, I held software engineering, application architecture, consulting, and technical leadership roles across banks, consulting firms, government agencies, and property developers. Those environments — where the cost of getting a system wrong shows up in a regulator’s inbox, not a Slack channel — shaped my conviction that enterprise AI needs to be designed with the same discipline as core banking: auditable, observable, and accountable.

Our values

Embedded, not extractive

We don’t fly in, deliver a deck, and fly out. We work alongside your team long enough to understand what’s actually true about your situation.

Honest over comfortable

If the architecture is weak, we’ll say so. If the plan won’t work, we’ll tell you before you spend. You’re paying for honest judgement — we protect that.

Precise and plain

Technical depth doesn’t require technical obscurity. We explain complex things clearly, to everyone in the room.

Outcomes over outputs

Reports and roadmaps are only useful if something changes because of them. We stay accountable to results, not just deliverables.
